  • Prometheum won 1st Special Purpose Broker-Dealer (SPBD) approval

  • No other crypto exchange has been able to secure SPBD approval

  • Republicans think it is politically motivated & “raises serious questions”

  • Republican demanding SEC hands over documents explaining approval

  • Other concerns about Prometheum’s ties to Chinese Communist Party

  • Prometheum is 20% owned by Wanxiang, which has deep ties to CCP

  • My take → this is an exciting experiment in decentralized governance
