Specs’ Breakdown

1. Kamala Harris might join Trump at Bitcoin Conference

⌐◪-◪ → Kamala Harris is in talks to speak at Bitcoin Conference in Nashville, and Crypto Twitter is not sure how it feels.

On the positive side, people are excited that crypto is seeing interest from Democrats, signaling a shift to becoming a non-partisan issue with support from both sides.

On the negative side, people see this as an incredibly disingenuous change of heart after the Democrats spent 4 years trying to destroy crypto under Biden, Gensler, Sen. Warren, and others. The hardcore crypto maxis want to boycott platforms that invite Kamala to speak.

As for me, I’m happy to see crypto moving in the direction of being a non-partisan issue. This is a big switch-up for the Democrats and a testament to how big an issue crypto is, and that’s something we should celebrate. With that said, it’s 100% fair to be skeptical here.

At the end of the day, both parties are fighting to win the crypto vote, but the real work doesn’t start until one of them wins the election and follows through.

Whoever that is, and whoever you vote for, hold them accountable.

2. Ethereum ETFs see $107M in net inflows on day 1

⌐◪-◪ → The spot Ethereum ETFs had a strong launch day with $107M of net inflows and $1B in trading volume. For context, the Bitcoin ETFs saw $600M net inflows and $4.5B trading volume.

Unpacking things a bit further, BlackRock’s $ETHA was the biggest winner with $266.5M net inflows and, just as we predicted, Grayscale’s $ETHE was the biggest loser with $484.1M net outflows.

For those who don’t know, Grayscale’s ETH ETF has the highest fees by a factor of 10x, forcing investors to flee to lower-cost investment vehicles—exactly what happened with their Bitcoin ETF.

Could this be part of some broader strategy by Grascale or is it just bad management? What do you think?

3. Solana surpasses Ethereum in 30-day DEX volume for the first time

⌐◪-◪ → Solana just flipped Ethereum in 30-day DEX volume for the first time ever, making it the “most used” chain by this measure.

This is an interesting milestone amid the launch of the spot Ethereum ETFs, as it’s no secret that Wall Street is eyeing Solana for the next series of crypto ETFs.

While this is certainly a significant milestone, some say it’s a bit misleading given Ethereum is a rollup-centric chain and is pushing all DEX volume to EVM L2s like Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, and Matic.

Essentially they’re saying the real comparison should be between Solana and all Ethereum L2s. What do you think?
