President Trump just announced the formation of a U.S. Crypto Strategic Reserve, holding Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), XRP, Solana (SOL), and Cardano (ADA). This aligns with his E.O. 14178 and his broader push to make the U.S. the “Crypto Capital of the World.” Expect more details at the upcoming Crypto Summit.

Curiously, Bitcoin and Ethereum were omitted from the initial announcement—until a quick correction clarified that “obviously BTC and ETH will be at the heart of the reserve.” A slip-up or a glimpse into internal priorities? Either way, it’s worth watching.

Someone was ahead of the news. A trader placed $200M in BTC and ETH longs on 50x leverage before the announcement, signaling that some had early conviction on the move. David Sacks faced criticism for pumping his bags and had to clarify that he sold all his crypto before joining the administration, but skepticism remains.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong weighed in, saying, “Just Bitcoin would probably be the best option.” His reasoning? Largest market cap, most decentralized, longest track record (since 2009). If a diversified reserve is required, he suggests an unbiased weighted index rather than a handpicked selection.

The real question is, is this even possible without congressional approval? If not, it could just be “just words”, as Arthur Hayes pointed out. Either way, the market is watching.

Bottom line? Exciting, but a breeding ground for favoritism and corruption. Bitcoin is the only true neutral reserve asset. Everything else will face scrutiny.

The Ethereum Foundation (EF) just appointed two new executive directors—Hsiao-Wei Wang and Tomasz Stanczak—marking a major leadership shift.

Vitalik is hyped, and said, "What Ethereum needs is a lot of young blood who share the cypherpunk vision. All OGs are jaded. It’s on the next generation now."

Here’s the quick breakdown:

• Hsiao-Wei Wang – EF researcher for seven years, deeply involved in the beacon chain and community building in Taiwan.

• Tomasz Stanczak – Developer and former leader at Nethermind, known for building a strong talent pipeline and organizational structure.

Some are skeptical of co-executive directors, given past failures. But this time, there appears to be a clearer division of responsibilities.

Why this matters:

Ethereum and DeFi are in prime position as the U.S. government embraces crypto. The right leadership could accelerate Ethereum’s institutional adoption and unlock new opportunities globally.

Personal take? I haven’t felt this bullish on ETH since 2017. Maybe the bottom is in, maybe it’s not—but I’m accumulating and waiting.
