Specs’ Insights

1. Bitcoin flips Silver to become the 8th largest asset by market cap

⌐◪-◪ → Bitcoin just flipped Silver!

Bitcoin just hit a new all-time high of $89k, flipping Silver to become the world’s 8th largest asset by market cap.

If this rally keeps up, Bitcoin could surpass giants like Saudi Aramco, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Apple, and NVIDIA. A simple 2x from here, and it would become the world’s 2nd largest asset after Gold.

Just last week, BlackRock’s Bitcoin holdings officially overtook its Gold holdings — a sign of a true shift. If Bitcoin flips Gold's market cap, we’re talking about a price of $891.3k per Bitcoin — basically $1M.

You are not bullish enough, anon.

2. Sen. Lummis says The Bitcoin Act could pass in the first 100 days

⌐◪-◪ → The U.S. may soon be the largest Bitcoin holder.

Sen. Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming thinks The Bitcoin Act (S.4912), the bill proposing Bitcoin as a strategic reserve asset, could pass within Trump’s first 100 days in office.

Quick refresher: This was one of Trump’s major pro-crypto promises, first announced at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville. Here’s what’s in the bill:

  • Purchase 1,000,000 BTC over five years

  • Hold these reserves for at least 20 years

  • Implement proof of reserves for transparency

  • Protect the right to self-custody Bitcoin

  • Allow voluntary State participation

Sen. Lummis isn’t alone. Florida’s CFO, Jimmy Patronis, is also pushing for a strategic reserve, calling Bitcoin “digital gold.” Florida could act independently or join through the Bitcoin Act’s Voluntary State Participation program if it passes.

While it’s just a bill for now, bipartisan support under Trump’s administration gives it a real shot. TD Cowen analysts are saying bipartisan crypto legislation has better odds with a pro-crypto majority.

First corps, then banks, then states, then governments.

3. Lens introduces v3 with new flagship features like verifiable information

⌐◪-◪ → Decentralized social is still in the works.

Lens just announced v3 of its protocol, “The New Lens,” laying the foundation for the future of decentralized social (DeSo).

The protocol now comes with “social legos” — modular functions like accounts, usernames, social graphs, feeds, groups, and more — built to make interactions free, fast, and seamless on the Lens Network.

Lens also secured partnerships with Dune for advanced queries/visualizations and The Graph for scaling infrastructure and data. Furthermore, Avara (the parent company of Lens and Aave) has introduced a new iOS wallet called Family, already live on the App Store.

I’ve always been a fan of Lens and the concept of DeSo, but it still feels like DeSo hasn’t had its breakout moment. Ultimately, what DeSo needs is a handful of killer apps that can harness blockchain’s open and composable nature to solve problems Twitter/X simply can’t due to its closed model.

The potential is there, but until we get that 0-1 use case — the “iPhone moment” of DeSo — Twitter will reign supreme. Hopefully, the new Lens will help us get there.
